Bowen Technique

Bowen is a very gentle technique that can be used on anyone from children to the elderly, there are very few contra-indications to this therapy, meaning that anyone can be treated and practically any problem can be addressed. Bowen helps the body remember how to heal itself. Basically the practitioner uses thumbs or fingers to make a series of precise, rolling type moves over muscle or tendon. Between these moves there can be a resting time room for several minutes to allow the body to rest, giving it time to respond. These moves on the body send neurological impulses to the brain and the breaks allow the body and brain to communicate, which results in an immediate response of muscle relaxation and pain relief. Bowen treats the whole person not just the symptoms. Children respond really well for all manner of ailments including all forms of hyperactivity and disability.   Common presentations include: Back and Neck pain ▪ Frozen shoulder • Tennis Elbow ▪ RSI ▪ Sciatica ▪ Colic • Asthma ▪ Hay Fever ▪ Digestive problems Anxiety ▪ Poor Concentration ▪ Stress • Leg & Foot pain and associated problems ▪ Migraines ▪ Headaches - All these conditions respond well.
